Past Intern Experiences

  • Chris Reed

Assistant RUF Campus Minister at Howard University in Washington, D.C.

    TEDS MDiv Graduate 2021

"The Pastoral Internship at Grace North Shore was a wonderful experience for me during my time at TEDS. The internship proved to be a great combination to go along with what I was learning in the classroom. Between the one-one-mentorship, ministry coaching, and opportunities to lead and serve, I grew in both knowledge and skill as a minister in training. Ministry practices such as planning liturgy for a worship service, developing a teaching series, organizing a calendar, and relating to Presbytery, were all things I had heard about in seminary. Nevertheless, I found it very advantageous for me to get to put those into practice in the local church setting. I left the internship this summer better prepared as one seeking ordination in the PCA. Being one who really enjoys the preaching and teaching aspect of pastoral ministry, the leaders of the internship both gave me avenues to exercise those gifts, while also pushing me to strengthen the areas that did not come as natural for me. Additionally, I could not be more grateful for the kindness and support of parishioners during my time at Grace. I'd recommend the pastoral Internship at Grace North Shore to any TEDS students, especially for those open to learning more about Presbyterianism and growing in the Reformed tradition."

  • Stephen Simmons

West End Community Church in Nashville, Tennessee

    TEDS MDiv Graduate 2020

"My experience at Grace North Shore was invaluable. Pastors Marshall and Nick took a devoted interest in both the life and ministry development of each member of my intern cohort. I was given meaningful and creative ministry responsibilities that that provided me with benchmark exposure to the breadth of pastoral ministry from which I draw upon daily. I specifically grew exponentially in my preaching and teaching skills while at Grace. Grace North Shore has a fun and committed staff, and occupies a unique space on the North Shore where gospel believing and practicing churches are in alarmingly short supply. My time at Grace North Shore will always be remembered with gratefulness for how God used it during my time at TEDS."
