Core Values

Worship - gospel simplicity

  • Christ focused
  • Scripturally shaped
  • Participatory - a living dialogue between God and His people
  • 'Reformational' - holding the ancient Christian faith by continually submitting to God's Word and the pattern of the gospel as we meet to worship Him.  To glorify God and experience His grace on the North Shore, our worship must be shaped by Chicagoland's unique culture, people, and history.

Community - life together

  • Personal communion with God creates growing community with one another
  • Gathering to pray, gathering to read, understand, and apply God's Word
  • Meeting one another's daily needs with compassionate & sacrificial love
  • Parties and feasting – enjoying life together

Mission - outward facing

  • Every aspect of the church's life (individuals, families, small groups, large gathering, worship) is in service of and a witness to the world.  The church does not exist on earth just for Christians.
  • Evangelism involves words of grace and deeds of mercy.
  • We seek to participate in and serve our neighborhood.
  • Co-operating with and learning from existing Christian ministries.
  • Initiating future ministry: church plants and RUF campus ministries.

Kingdom - everyday spirituality of the cross

  • All of life is spiritually significant and part of our relationship to Father, Son, and Holy Spirit.
  • Christians are called to value and engage the Chicago’s people, places, and culture, because He does - growing in our stewardship of the everyday grace of life.
  • God enters into and renews His creatures by the selfless love of Jesus life and death on the cross for sinners.   Self-sacrificial love and service to others continues to be the power of God at work through the lives of those who trust and follow Jesus.
