Dear Parents,
Greetings! It has been so good to meet so many of you and your children. There are several things that I want to put in this first letter, but there are some things that need to be said because of upcoming calendar events:
Palm Sunday Processional: Sunday, April 17 is Palm Sunday. At the 11:00 worship service we would like to invite all of the children to join the special processional. We will line the children up at 10:50 am in the upstairs hallway. They will come down stairs and we will give them a palm branch to hold in each hand. As the first hymn begins they will come into the sanctuary through the front side doors and walk down the center aisle and out the back door into the hallway. There will be a Call to Worship and then as the second hymn begins they will come back into the sanctuary and join you.
If you come to the first service, please consider staying until after the processional. If your child goes to one of the nursery rooms during church, please stand in the back of the sanctuary and then walk out as your child walks into the hallway.
We will collect the palm branches after the processional and give them out again as everyone leaves church.
Since we can’t practice it would help your child if you prepared him/her for this joyful occasion. Here are a few things for you to mention: Hold both palm branches high in the air during the processional (and don’t let them touch anyone around them). Smile!
We will have someone taking pictures in the front and the back of the sanctuary. Also, moms and/or dads are very welcome and encouraged to carry in your arms or hold the hands of your toddler.
Easter Sunday: There is no Sunday School on April 24. Everyone is invited to come to the Great Hall for an Easter brunch. (More instructions on that in another email.) There will be Good News Club during the 8:30 and 11:00 worship services.
Summer Schedule: Beginning on Memorial Day weekend, Sunday, May 29, we will have one worship service at 10:00 am. The nursery and playroom will be open and the Good News Club will meet. Two services and Sunday School will resume on Sunday, September 11.
I count it a privilege and an honor to support, partner with, and serve you as you raise your children to know and love Jesus.
Warmly in Christ’s love,
Helen Holbrook
